The PMI-SP certification exam consists of 170 multiple-choice questions within 3.5 hours to complete.
Professionals who want to maintain their PMI-SP must earn a minimum of 30 professional development units (PDUs) every three years from specialized topics of project scheduling.
PMI Scheduling Professional (PMI-SP) Certification Training
The PMI-SP training course will prepare you to pass the examination on your first attempt when combined with your previous PMP training. Who Should Attend PMI-SP Certification Training
This course is suitable for candidates who own an active PMP certification, candidates who have a considerable amount of scheduling experience and are seeking the PMI-SP certification. This course, along with your previous PMP training hours, satisfies all the educational requirements for PMI-SP Certification.
Requirements
With a Bachelor’s degree or higher:
> 3,500 hours of project scheduling experience
> 30 hours of project scheduling education
Having a high school diploma or any global equivalent:
> 5,000 hours of project scheduling experience
> 40 hours of project scheduling education
Exam Information
You will have up to one year to prepare yourself from the date of your application and are allowed to take the examination. On failing the exam, you are allowed to re-exam twice within your one year eligibility period for earning your PMI-SP credential.
Exams are available at multiple locations around the world. You will need to acquire two forms of identification after arriving at the exam centre. All of your belongings are placed in a locker and are not to be used during the exam.
You will get 3.5 hours to complete a total of 170 multiple-choice questions, out of which 20 questions are considered pre-test and do not carry any marks.
The remaining questions will represent each section of the project schedule management domains:
- Domain 1 – Schedule Strategy (14%)
- Domain 2 – Schedule Planning and Development (31%)
- Domain 3 – Schedule Monitoring and Managing (35%)
- Domain 4 – Schedule Closeout (6%)
- Domain 5 – Stakeholder Communications Management (14%)
There are no breaks during your exam. Questions appear one at a time and can either be answered, answered and marked; or left blank and marked for review.
After submission of the exam, you will be asked to answer a survey in order to receive your results. After which, you will be informed about your results. The exam provides you with a hard-copy of your results, which includes your proficiency level in each of the domains. These Proficiency levels are:
- Proficient
- Moderately Proficient
- Below Proficient

Preparing yourself for the PMI-SP® exam may be confusing, whether to choose self-study or take an exam preparation course training because of the difficulty of the PMI-SP® exam, many candidates choose to attend an exam preparation training.
